# Interface Design: the studio review desk

## Intent first

The human is the studio project lead between design work and the client review. They must approve a direction, understand a content dependency and assemble Friday’s review. The surface should feel like an orderly proof table: precise but not technical or data-heavy.

## Product domain exploration, before code

Domain: design proofs, feedback, art direction, content handoff, case-study narrative, client review.
Color world: white mounting board, gray cutting mat, graphite pencil, blue proof marks, pale blue tracing paper, warm paper labels.
Signature: the review desk connects the next decision to its owner, the blocked dependency and the review appointment in one workspace. Five concrete expressions: review-focused navigation, the decision headline, the named Maya direction row, the adjacent Alex content note and the Friday preparation footer.
Defaults rejected: a metric-card triplet becomes plain progress text; a broad dashboard sidebar becomes a narrow studio rail; identical rounded task cards become one connected proof list with native disclosure.

## Component checkpoint

Intent: lead approves homepage direction; approachable, precise.
Hierarchy: the next-decision sentence is the focal point; task list follows; review appointment anchors the bottom.
Palette: --proof-paper #F6F7F9, --proof-board #FFFFFF, --graphite #28313E, --pencil #596575, --proof-blue #315CA6. Blue is a proof mark/action cue, not decoration.
Depth: border-only separation; no shadows.
Surfaces: one cool neutral family with small lightness shifts. Rail shares canvas, list sits one level above.
Typography: Avenir Next with native sans fallbacks; a 1.2-ish stepped scale at 13/16/19/23/32, weight 500/600/700 for hierarchy. System fonts are an offline adaptation.
Spacing: 4px base, 16px row density, 24px content groups, 32px section separation.

Native details supplies keyboard and disclosure semantics. Repeated rows share one class and semantic tokens; the primary control has 44px height. Review preparation opens inline and restores focus on Close/Escape. No context memory file was silently installed. This download holds the pattern record for the lab only.

## Local implementation review

Swap test: replacing the connected review desk with metric cards would hide the decision/dependency connection. Signature test is documented above. Token test: names come from the proofing domain. Visual and functional verification is reported separately; no native plugin execution is claimed.

## Audit correction — 2026-10-15

Raised the mobile Review desk link from 36px to 44px high to match the skill’s preferred hit area. This is a subsequent implementation repair; the original source pin and execution date are preserved.

## Source-guided colour refinement — 2026-10-21

Reread the pinned self-contained SKILL.md. The studio lead still needs to connect the homepage approval, content dependency and Friday appointment. The proofing world now uses more decisive blue ink while retaining the same canvas for rail and workspace, one white proof list, border-only depth and the existing system font.

Component checkpoint: the approval sentence remains the focal point through its scale, weight and blue tracing-paper band. Selected navigation and the primary action use the same blue ink; the review state uses a lighter version. Density remains on the 4px spacing base, with 16px task rows and compact 16px separation around the decision. The tonal decision band is an information group, not an additional nested card.

This palette supersedes the earlier checkpoint: proof paper #EDF2FA, proof board #FFFFFF, graphite #1D3356, pencil #516482, proof blue #244D9A, deep proof blue #183A79, tracing-paper mark #DCE7FA and review mark #E7EEFC. Handoff warning remains a separate semantic role: #805321 on #F8ECD6. Borders use rgba(29, 51, 86, 0.14).

- The faint current-page tint becomes a solid blue selected navigation state, clarifying the active workspace without separating the rail into a different colour world.
- The unbounded decision heading gains a blue tracing-paper band, grouping the approval and its timing explanation before the proofs.
- Review and blocked labels gain distinct tonal fills, while the Friday time and Prepare review action share the blue-ink hierarchy. The proof list stays white and legible.

This is a subsequent source-guided colour and hierarchy refinement of the original instruction-guided example, not a new native workflow or a claim of complete conformance. The original prompt, input, source pin and execution date are preserved. All facts and local interactions remain; no persistent project design-system file was installed.
